No work, all play: Mount Pleasant police crack down as CMU students arrive on campus

While Central Michigan University educators aren’t working, law enforcers had plenty of work this weekend, officials say. Mount Pleasant police officials say they enlisted the help of campus police and state police when cracking down on the university’s “Welcome Back Weekend,” which officials say “has caused significant public safety concerns” in the past. Mount Pleasant police records show, between Thursday and Sunday, the agencies reported 258 people were cited for possessing alcohol as a minor; 45 were cited for “loud parties;” 13 people were cited for attending or hosting a “nuisance party;” 14 fights were broken up by police; and three people were cited for malicious destruction of property.
