American Family Association opposes anti-discrimination law


For four months, the Mt. Pleasant Area Diversity Group has been lobbying for Mt. Pleasant to adopt an anti-discrimination ordinance. While the MPAGD has plenty of support, some do not agree that such an ordinance should be adopted. “You are currently considering a proposed ordinance that would establish special ‘protected class’ status in the city of Mt. Pleasant on the basis of homosexual behavior (sexual orientation) and cross-dressing (gender identity),” Gary Glenn, president of the American Family Association of Michigan, wrote in an email to every city commissioner.
