Central Michigan men's basketball goes to 2-0 in MAC play after 60-56 win at Eastern Michigan

Derek Jackson

Two late free throws by Austin McBroom helped Central Michigan get a 60-56 win at rival Eastern Michigan Wednesday night. Central improves to 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference and 7-8 overall. It’s only the third time in the last 20 years that the Chippewas have started out at least 2-0 in the MAC. Central was 2-0 in 2009-10 and 3-0 in 1991-92. After Eastern Michigan cut Central’s lead to 58-54, McBroom nailed a pair of free throws with nine seconds left to put the Chippewas up four at 60-56. Central’s defense prevented Eastern from making a basket in the final few seconds.
