The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal one-car rollover crash that occurred around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on N. Shepherd Road just north of Beal City Road in Denver Township. A 1999 Jeep Wrangler driven by Thomas Gary Painter, 22, Mount Pleasant, was traveling northbound on Shepherd when he lost control, began fishtailing, left the roadway and overturned. Painter was ejected from the Jeep and the vehicle ended up rolling over on him, pinning him underneath it. He died as a result of the crash.
