Mt. Pleasant’s Mike Pung gets a longer contract

Mt. Pleasant’s school board extended the contract for its superintendent, but he won’t get a raise. Superintendent Mike Pung told board members not to consider raising his pay during a recent evaluation, according to board members. “There are so many other needs,” Pung said. The school board voted 7-0 to extend Pung’s contract to June 30, 2015. Pung had been the long-time principal of the Mt. Pleasant Area Technical Center, then took over as principal of Mt. Pleasant High School when the previous principal resigned suddenly. Pung was named superintendent of schools last May.
