Arachnid love: Alma College professor finds spiders can be homewreckers, too
A college professor here is gaining national attention for his research on how a certain kind of spider finds -- and steals -- dating partners from rival arachnids, officials say. David Clark, a biology professor at Alma College, shed new light on male wolf spiders’ courtship behavior, finding the “spiders eavesdrop on their male counterparts and copy courtship signals as a likely means of stealing their mate,” his research reads. Clark leads a group of researchers supported by a National Science Foundation grant.
