Courthouse roundup: Man accused of using gun to assault woman
A Mount Pleasant man is facing charges of felonious assault and domestic assault after a Nov. 3 incident involving a pistol. Kurt Roger Nitschke, 47, was arraigned on the charges on Nov. 4 by Midland County District Court Judge Stephen P. Carras, who set bond at $50,000 cash or surety, which has been posted. Bond conditions include no contact with the victim, no firearms or dangerous weapons, and drugs or alcohol. Police omitted the case from the daily media log, so it was not reported until now. The case was bound over to the circuit court on Dec. 12, after Nitschke waived a preliminary hearing. He stood mute and a plea of not guilty was entered by the court.
